Charles’ athletic background began in baseball and expanded into strength training at the encouragement of his high school baseball coach. After three consecutive high school baseball sectional titles, he moved on to play at the collegiate level for the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). At RIT, his role developed into that of closing pitcher, and then expanded into the role of Captain his senior year. As Captain he developed and implemented an off-season strength training and assessment program.
After a few years of post-collegiate baseball, Charles decided to stop competing in baseball, but knew he couldn’t stop competing entirely. Soon thereafter, he decided to prepare for and compete in his first powerlifting meet. Since then he has competed in six powerlifting meets in which he has set multiple state drug tested records in the USPA. He has also competed in one USS strongman show, in which he qualified for nationals.
As both an athlete and a coach, Charles loves experiencing self-improvement, and helping other athletes do the same! Moreover, Charles has found that strength training can not only be a fantastic tool to create physical improvement, but it can also teach discipline and mental toughness.
When he’s not at the gym, Charles works as a construction project manager, and enjoys spending time with friends and his wife, golfing, camping, homebrewing, woodworking, and playing with his dogs.
